After arriving at 1 am, sleeping in the bed of a pickup truck, and trying not to freeze, we set up to watch the desert come alive and greet a new day. Monument Valley was such an amazing view to wake up to and great to watch the sun light up the phenomenal scene.

It was quite early in the morning when we decided to stop and make a few images of the towering rocks of Monument Valley. I turned around and saw Briana caught in the strong backlight and flare of the early morning sun. A few snaps later, I had captured her in this amazing place.

In summer 2018 I took my grandpa’s 1938 Voigtlander Bessa66 on a trip through western parks. The shots are taken on 120mm film and converted in jpg by a scanner

On our x-country travel we stopped at our favorite National Park, Canyonlands in Utah near Moab. In Canyonlands is an arch called Mesa, just a short hike away. We always stop here. Luckily we got here just as the sun was setting and every couple minutes the sky and landscape changes colors. If you squat down, you can make the arch frame the view like so.

I was in a road trip in the west America. I stopped by Canyonlands, an amazing National Park, that offers crazy views. I felt small and loved that. Canyons are absolutely beautiful. I recommend everyone to go there.

I visited Canyonlands National Park and Mesa Arch. The view through the arch is captivating. One will probably have to wait until other visitors move out of your field of view due to the popularity of the arch. You have probably seen photos of sunrises through the arch with the top side of the arch lite up by the sun rising. This view through the arch is just as impressive with the terrain being far in the distance.

Last picture of the night. One of the best takeaways from this solo trip, the grand view of the Canyonlands. The canyons are actually way deeper and steeper than you imagine. Standing beside the cliff, listening to the sound of the breezing wind and the caws of crows, that was the way of life. I went to Utah with only certain expectations and came back home with a bucket of joy. And also, the couple who happened to be in this picture made it more valuable than it already was.

The Green river overlook is one of the most photographed points in Canyonlands National Park. This particular evening, there were hardly 3 photographers waiting for the sun to set over the Green River as it cut through the Island in the Sky. Definitely felt a very special occasion for photography.

It is magical what light brings to this world and how it brings out colors for just one example. It is light that we chase as photographers and something we will always cherish and keep learning and adjusting to.

I could not stop looking up at the vast amounts of designs and textures each turn took you. Still today I want to go back every time I see a picture of this place. Your next hurts when you get out of the canyon but its worth the pain.
